Recognising the work of rural women
Cultivating more just food systems
Sowing the seeds of agroecological transformation
The URGE project – Cultivating Equality: Rural Women, Food Systems and Agroecology in the Iberian Peninsula – investigates the central role of women in family farming in Portugal, Galicia and the Basque Country.
Drawing on a gender perspective and participatory feminist methodologies, URGE aims to raise awareness of the agroecological practices, perspectives and demands of women farmers and rural women, and to contribute to the development of more sustainable, equitable and inclusive food systems.
Cultivating equality. Transforming communities. Caring for the future.
